This month my blue scraps are going into a fishy table runner. The inspiration is from Nicholas Ball's book, "Inspiring Improv".
A couple more tails needed here, and the rest of the shoal. |
blue scrap basket from a previous RSC project |
Meanwhile most of my sewing energy is going into Lori Kennedy's current FMQ QAL.
(dreadful mistake in the bottom line there!) |
This is nowhere near good enough yet, but I'm hoping, "Practice makes perfect"!

Interesting fish story. Wonder what will happen with them. I need to practice my free motion quilting more often. Every time I stop for a while, it's like I have to re-learn everything again. Practice, practice, and practice some more. ;^)
I love the improv fish. Fun!
The fish look great and I can't wait to see the table runner! Lots of improvement since you last posted your FMQ so keep going!! Have a lovely weekend! Christine xx
Not an easy improv with all the angles. Fishing is a great way to spend a day in nature.
Your fish are just great! They look like a fun type of block to try. I think your FMQ looks great! That's something I never mastered.
Those fish look so fun! I see lots more fish in that sea basket of scraps.
I had hoped to "go fishing", too. I'll be looking forward to seeing your table runner, Marly! Thanks for that link to Lori Kennedy's Quilt-a-Long. I hadn't heard about it. You are doing a great job with your sample!
Are you hooked on your fish? hahaha! They look wonderful. Lori Kennedy is a wonderful quilter and a great reference point for figuring out what to quilt where. I use a lot of her designs when I need an idea for FMQ.
