Work in Progress: Little Letters

I started quilting my Little Letters quilt (for more information see here) this morning. I love this quilt, it's so sweet, and small! I started with a double row of Serpentine stitch along the sashings, and then quilted the white space in the blocks, leaving the letters free of quilting.

I tried to do FMQ in straight lines, but I'm really terrible at that, squiggles and circles go much better.
This week Amy  at Amy's Free Motion Quilting posted about a foot that fits a Bernina and is suitable for use with a ruler so I shall be keeping an eye on developments there. I guess I'd get better straight lines with a ruler!

"O"

I'm hoping to finish this soon, as I've got two more tops waiting to be quilted on the machine, and a mini to do by hand.

I'm linking to
Wednesday link up Sew Fresh Quilts Needle and Thread Thursday blogbutton photo peacockfmq025_zpse5bceb10.jpg

so go and visit over there and see what else is being produced in the quilting world this week, while I go and put some stitches in my mini quilt.

Happy sewing

Marly.

I had a look at the ruler/foot you mentioned above, and will definitely be watching your space with interest. I think I have the same machine as you, so if it works for you I shall be hot footing it off to the local shop with a fistful of dollars.

Those squiggly lines in the sashing were a great way to stabilize the quilt. Love the variety of fmq you used within the blocks. What a sweet quilt!

It is a lovely quilt and it reminded me of something an old timer once said about gardening and that is..."you can fit more seeds/plants into a crooked row"! Your post makes me smile!

I like your quilting without straight lines! It offers a nice contrast to your letters that are straight!

I like your little letters. I don't have a Bernina, but I'd like to know how to FMQ with a ruler so I'll check it out anyway. I'm visiting from the GYBP.

Great job on the quilting! I'm hoping to get my little letters quilted this month too.

Great job! I am also looking for that Bernina ruler foot. It would be nice to get the kind of accuracy that rulers seem to give people quilting on long arms.

I'm hoping to to finish the end of my alphabet this week! Love your bright colors with the white. It really is a sweet finish. How are you liking the result of leaving the letters with no quilting?

Hello Marly,

This quilt looks great fun, with all the bright colours, and I love the way you are putting lots of different quilting patterns in the white spaces.

Thank you for linking up with Free motion Mavericks!
